Coaching is my contribution to the youth of our community. I really enjoy teaching kids the basic fundamentals of the game. Most of all I enjoy volunteering to provide them with leadership to become better people, discipline to build character, to encourage education and good sportsmanship. I’d like to wish you all success in your education, athletics and your future endeavors in life. “Remember to always listen to your parents, be who your are and not who everyone expects you to be, strive to lead and not be lead astray.” Thank you all for your support. If you like to fish you will never get tired of fishing in the many lakes, rivers, bays and bayous of southern Louisiana. The Largest Party in the World is Mardi Gras which begins in early January and ends on FAT TUESDAY, the day before ash Wednesday. If you want a good KING CAKE try Gambino's
Bakeries, The King of King Cakes Another great time to visit this fabulous city is during the JAZZ & HERITAGE FESTIVAL and the Essence Festival. |
The celebration of Mardi Gras and King Cake parties are unique to New Orleans. The Mardi Gras season officially begins on the twelfth Night of Christmas, or January 6th, also known to Christians as the Epiphany. Since the third century the Epiphany has been observed as the day the Three Wise Men finally found the infant Jesus. King Cakes were initiated to celebrate this holy day and a small plastic baby doll is placed in each cake as a symbol of "finding the baby Jesus". King Cakes are oval shaped and decorated in carnival colors of Purple which signify Justice, Green for faith, and Gold for Power. As the cake is cut, each person looks to see if their piece contains the small plastic baby. Many carnival clubs including the Twelfth Night Revelers choose the queen of their carnival by this tradition. Some believe that the person who gets the plastic doll baby will have a year of good fortune. Traditionally, to continue the festivities through carnival, the person who finds the baby brings the King Cake to the next celebration. King Cake season ends on Fat Tuesday the day before ash Wednesday. |
